Description
Velvet is a very luxurious fabric. It is a cut warp pile fabric whereby two pieces of velvet are woven at the same time on a special loom, then sliced apart forming the surface of the fabric.
Crush marks, bruising or pile flattening from protective packaging during transport is not uncommon. Crush marks can also occur with use.
Given the characteristics of this high pile fabric, the furniture’s environment can dictate the response of the Velvet. Where high humidity exists in many cases you will find that the velvet pile can restore itself without any assistance once given the opportunity to “breathe”. In other cases, it needs some help. After much research and internal workshop testing, we brought to market this unique Velvet Crush Spray. A light mist is sprayed across the section of velvet that is crushed, and then allowed to dry completely. After drying, most crush marks will come out, and the pile will stand up again. As a final step, a light brushing of the pile in the right direction will return it to its natural state.
For severe cases, a professional steam treatment by a Studio Leather & Fabrics Technician may be required.
